The movie you're thinking about where Swanson plays the tennis star dating the QB is "The Program", one of the best movies made about college sports.  However, if you're a Kristy Swanson fan, you definitely need to see "The Chase" with her, Charlie Sheen, Henry, Anthony Keidis, and Flea, one of the most underrated comedies of all time (written by the same guy who wrote "Detroit Rock City").  You also need to see "Higher Learning", John Singleton's (of Boyz in the Hood) look at race relations on a college campus.  First off, I'm a UCLA alum and the majority of the movie is shot on the UCLA campus, so it has that going for it.  It is also a fairly powerful movie in terms of the message it attempts to get across, but as you watch it more and more that message kind of gets diluted due to the fact that movie takes just about every single stereotype of college life and completely blows it out of proportion (my favorite seen is where a drunk freshman girl who already has her shirt off falls down laughing on the lawn of one of the fraternities, one of the frat guys promptly picks her up, throws her over his shoulder, and runs back into the house with her like a caveman, completely unforgettable.)
