Bad idea, or job security?

Well, my old rag has fired two sports staffers, including myself, over the past 7 months. That leaves two left, with one being the SE. The writer (not editor) told me he is trying to get the fuck out of there, which would leave only the SE. I would easily get the job back....do you think it is a good move considering I could demand a bit more money and I would be needed to put together the section, or do you think that papers will just cut out sports altogether?

Papers won't cut out sports; there's always team photos and little league games to be run...
But ask yourself if you'd be happy going back. Think long-term.

How you could go back to a place that fired me is beyond me, and speaks volumes to how shitty this business has become.

Because I loved my time there. I like covering prep sports, I like being paid to sit and watch TV on occasion. Plus, it is real close to where I live.

i wish i could say something like, "have some pride." but in today's job climate, a job is a job.

I see a career in fast food in your future. Bring your own hair net and plan on living with mom for a few more years.

Were you fired or laid off? If you were fired, as you said, why do you think you could "easily" get the job back?

I think you're kidding yourself when you say "I could demand more money."

Are you employed now? In the business? In a job you like?
