The best part is how Rivera hurt his back...tying his shoelaces in the clubhouse prior to the game!

Oh, how could I forget to mention -- Bucs swept the Brewers. Yeah, the Pirates. Bay and Castillo are amazing right about now.

Sounds like a trip to the 15-day DL...

Fuckabuncha that. The goddamn Pirates (whom I like otherwise) have been the bane of the Brewers' existence ever since they joined the NL. Everytime the Brewers get something going, they get pummeled by the dog ass Buccos. Nothing like rolling into PNC Park two games over .500 and leaving two games under.

Hey, they have to beat someone, right? (Aside from the Royals in July, but you and I know that's not some meaningful team with tons of promise for the future like the Brew Crew.)

Today's totally stupid stat in a major paper, from a guy who some around here think is a very good baseball writer:

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Mike Mussina became the first Yankees pitcher to lose a shutout bid on a two-out, unearned run in the ninth inning since Catfish Hunter in 1975.

Now there's someting I was just dying to know.  ::)
    You can not be serious!

If Rivera is out for an extended period of time it's going to be pure comedy watching Farnsworth try to close out games at the Stadium. Yankee fans will eat him alive.

Sheffield is possibly gone for the season, ligament tear and tendon damage. Kudos to Cashman for not picking up the 2007 option.
If Rivera is hurt any worse than a one time trip to the 15 day DL, the Yanks are completely done. The only slight slight infinitesimal positive to come out of losing Rivera for a prolonged period of time would be the revocation of AROd's, Vladimir Guerrero's, Miguel Tejada's, Juan Gonzalez', and Ivan Rodriguez' MVP awards and retroactively awarding them to Rivera.

Bonds at Shea tonight. Will you be there? And if so, will you boo?

Will Bonds even be there? I thought I heard he wasn't playing tonight.

I'm not going, but I imagine the Queens/Brooklyn/Long Island smartasses will have something for Barry Balco.
