Another guy (like Chris Shelton) who I wish the Bucs had kept ...

Nats and Braves TIED, which is no big deal this year because the Braves don't appear to be the Braves anymore. But a team that was 13-27 just a few weeks ago is now 29-33. I don't suspect it will last but I'm going to enjoy it. Wonder how much better than 29-33 would be if they'd kept Bill Bray out of spring instead of Joey Eischen like some wanted to do.

Estaban Loaiza - AMF No. 1. Who needs him when you have Ramon Ortiz? :D

Gotta love those Nats, Moddy...at least for this weekend against the Phils

  4. Nats 8-2 in their last 10 (playing above their level)
Braves 2-8 in their last 10 (playing below their level)

Starting to look like the Mets will win the East after all.

The Nats Fanboy Looser Bus has plenty of empty seats and you're welcome aboard even if it is only temporary.

I was given tickets for tomorrow and would love to work it out to go because I'd like to see this Hamels kid pitch.  I'd like to see him get his ass kicked, actually!

I'll ask again, if they're .500 by the all-star break how hard to you rethink the dump?     Unfortunately, I think they still have to do it because there's no way they get in the playoff hunt and they need capable bodies in the system.     My hope is they unload Soriano for a busload of prospects and then resign him.   Hell, if they move Vidro as expected they can resign Soriano to play second if that's what he wants.

WAY WAY WAY WAY above their level, but I'm not bitching.

Not sure about the Braves. Bullpen blows and the starters are getting rocked a bit, too. Thomsen has been terrible lately, Sosa has been terrible all year.

  7. Tony Armas may be their most marketable player. He's cheap for the rest of the year (only a $2.1 mil contract in 2006) and what playoff contender wouldn't want a guy who's 6-3 with a 3.48 ERA?

It would be best if the Nats could re-sign him but Armas is probably going free agent and hoping for a big playday based on his play this season. Why not get some prospects if you are the Nats?

The thing I don't like about Armas is he's either got it or he doesn't. He doesn't seem to be able to get out of jams at all. When he's on, he's very good and he's clearly over whatever shoulder problems he's had. For now.

He should have had his seventh win last night. They pulled him after five to protect his back, with a 7-3 lead. Mike Stanton to the rescue there.

Armas, Vidro, Guillen, Hernandez and Nick Johnson might fetch some prospects. Have to keep Schneider, there's no other catcher in the system. Guillen won't bring much. I'd hate to see Johnson go but maybe it is time to see if Larry Broadway is a show stopper. And then there's the Soriano issue. Do the owners make a big splash by trying to sign him now? Or do you take the prospects and hope?

The Mets should deal whatever it takes to get Soriano.

Mets will not trade Milledge and Pelfrey for Soriano.

Umm why? They have plenty of offense.

Moddy: Thomson wasn't that good to begin with. More Mazzone magic at work.

Is that Nats fanboy bus a local?
