Ball One Benitez was more hated by Met fans than even Doug Sisk.

Guardado is hurt? Better send Dunn to the Phillies for Rheal Cormier. Gotta get some more middle relievers!

    Have you seen Bray pitch?

And even with Moddy's favorite reliever now on the Reds, Cincy's bullpen ERA has been cut in half since the acquisitions of Guardado, Bray and Majewski.

From June 1-July 5, the Reds' pen ERA was above 6. Since July 5, it's 3.1. Not outstanding, but certainly a vast improvement from where it was going. And, it doesn't look like the offense has faltered one bit.

The trade was made July 14.

Majewski hasn't helped that ERA go down.

If paid-off prick Garcia is on the level and the flyout to Tarasco isn't ruled a HR, I'm convinced that Benitez's career is totally different. Instead of good closer, maybe near HOF level.

That's an interesting point. But I think what happens after that is what separate the great closers from the rest of the unwashed masses. Eck was still stellar after Gibson. Rivera coughed up one of his first postseason leads as a closer. Even a guy like Foulke got past Ortiz's double in the 2003 DS to be shut-down in the 2004 playoffs.

An aside: Anyone other Mets fanboys getting worried about Glavine? Are batters now adjusted to him pitching inside? The past month and a half's starting to smell a lot like his first year and a half.

The last two months have been ugly for Glavine. His Ks have dropped, his walks have gone up and his BAA is way over .300.

Remember all the April talk about how Greg Maddux was rejuvenated and reviving his career? Me neither.

Is he dominating a simulated game in the bullpen?
