White Sox have lost 5 straight series and with a Yankee win tonite, the White Sox will be tied with the Twins at 1/2 game back in the wild card standings.

Ozzie's idiot savant, uber-honesty schtick will morph into him being just an uber-idiot if they continue to flail. Looking forward to it.

And Jays are only 3 1/2 back in the wild card, 5 1/2 back of Boston in the east.

After taking 3 out of 4 over the weekend from the Yanks and beating Seattle last night, they still haven't made up any ground on the Sox.

A caller to WEEI in Boston brought up an interesting point - A-Rod isn't struggling as much as Jason Giambi but Giambi's getting a free pass.

A-Rod in July - .291 BA/ 5 HR / 17 RBI / .902 OPS
Giambi in July - .194 BA / 4 HR / 15 RBI / .707 OPS

I think the fact that A-Rod has 21 K's in July to Giambi's 16 hurts the perception of A-Rod as does all the errors in the field - A-Rod leads all AL 3rd basemen in errors with 18 (the man who should et the Gold Glove at 3rd this year - Mike Lowell of the Red Sox has just 4). However, Giambi rarely plays the field but is still tied for the lead among AL 1st basemen with 7 errors. Most people agree that Giambi is a stone hands fielder.

Many people think that A-Rod is the Yankees' highest paid player but Giambi will paid $19 million this year by the Yankees - A-Rod counts for just $14 million on the Yankees' books (some money is deferred and some will be paid by Texas).

White Sox haven't lost the Minnesota series yet. They only trail 5-3 in the fifth. Twins would need to beat the Sox today to tie them in the wild card standings and the AL Central.

It's a 3 game home series and they lost the 1st 2 games, so regardless of how they do today, they lost the series. They lead 7-3 in the 7th, so if they sweep the series, they are tied with CWS in the wild card standings

Yea I know. I'm not writing off the White Sox yet (so I guess that shows I'm not a White Sox fan ).

And that's not to mention guys like Uggla and Hanley Ramirez, who have done their parts. If I were a GM looking for scouts, I would start with whoever's on that Marlins payroll, for sure. They definitely earn their money.
