Odenton Patch is seeking a hard-working person to assist in coverage of the Arundel High basketball teams.

The job will require coverage of 1-2 games per week with the occasional feature story. We also require that a few photos be taken at each game.

The Arundel girls are the defending state champs and the men's team is very competitive, so this is an important beat.

Odenton, MD is located right in between Baltimore and Washington, D.C. Sports is a major driver of traffic to our site and you will have the opportunity to do as much as your energy, time and talent allows.

Ideal candidates will have some experience writing about high school sports on deadline, but we will consider all candidates with journalism experience and a knowledge of basketball. This is a great fit for college students and recent grads looking to build a portfolio.

Successful candidates will have the opportunity to write about other sports and will be recommended to other Patch sites in Maryland for freelance opportunities.

I pay $75 for 400-500 word gamers with a few photos.

I come from a sportswriting background and will work with and mentor candidates on coverage.

If interested, please email a short cover letter in the message body explaining your background and experience. Two or three work samples would also be helpful.
