BCS leagues expanding - yeah?

The SEC might be the one league left where geography still matters. No way Notre Dame or Kansas comes in, and Mizzou would be a 100-1 shot.

I think Texas A&M would want to go to the SEC because of Gene Stallings, but the Aggies will do whatever Texas tells them to do and will like it. Longhorns have no interest in SEC, so Aggies will join them in Pac-16.

Mizzou has *got* to be shirtting itself right about now. If Nebraska is in as No. 12 in the Big Ten, what's to stop the Big Tenwelve from stopping right there?

I think Boise was tabled for now because if the MWC was serious about only going up to 9 members and Colorado was available, that would be the obvious choice.

MWC already has nine members. TCU was No. 9.

I know everything has said Texas wants no part of a Big 12 without Nebraska, but is losing only Nebraska worth blowing up the conference?

I don't know what type of deal Texas would get if it carried the Big 12 South to the Pac-10. Would it be better than what it's got now (with Utah, for example, replacing Nebraska)?

That and the other 6 teams leaving.

If they're still playing football on NBC it doesn't matter.

Ah, but here's a thought I had at dinner.

NBC's Saturday fall sports programming absolutely sux, except for ND football, and that's only on seven times in a 14-weekend fall. The Pac-10/Big 12 TV package with Fox ends after the 2011-12 season.

What's to say NBC doesn't decide to become a real player again - given ND's lesser national importance with the new Big 10 and Pac-16, and an increasingly unattractive home schedule - and dumps ND and bids on the Pac-16 contract?

(one caviat- not sure how long NBC's current contract with ND runs).

That league will cover three time zones and have tons of major markets. You could easily start games (using Pacific time zone times here) at 10 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. every weekend, not inconvenience fans very much, and have wall-to-wall college football for the entire fall.

You'd also have college basketball on Saturday and Sunday in the winter.

But that's the thing. If all you're losing is Nebraska, is it worth blowing everything up when you can *presumably* just call Utah and be right back to 12?

/admittedly don't know what the team-by-team $ breakdown would be in the Pac16

Losing Nebraska isn't enough of a reason to bolt.

Unless, of course, you're looking for a reason to bolt but don't want to make the first move.

I *totally* get why everyone other than Texas would love to bolt for the Pac16. They'd (I'm guessing) be getting an equal cut of a bigger financial pie. Texas, though, pretty much runs shirt in the Big 12. I just have a hard time seeing them give that up if Nebraska is the only domino that falls.

If Mizzou and Colorado bolt, then sure. But I'm really beginning to wonder if the OMGseismic change might end up being much ado about nothing: Nebraska to the Big Tenwelve and no more.

Reports say money for Pac-10 Network could rival the Big Ten - $20 million annually per school. When you consider Washington State's athletic budget is about $10 million right now it is a no-brainer.

Pac-16 will be in great position for TV contract, presumably with Fox since theirs and Big 12's ends in 2011 I believe.
