Some interesting choices here:

Charlize Theron as Wonder Woman, I think, could really work.

She would be passable -- at 5-10, she could be built up on elevator boots.

I did see this passage:

No one knows for sure yet. But the Justice League roster is deep, so deep, full of characters both well-known and obscure, with a variety of personalities and powers, that they all need love and attention.

Actually, no ... nobody really gives a damn about any of these guys except Batman and Superman. Except for the Big Two, they're all 'obscure.'

Wonder Woman is the third part of the DC trinity. She's iconic.

But I'd agree that after those three, the interest level isn't there.

Theron is interesting because she's already played a Wonder Woman type character in Hancock.

And speaking of that movie. If DC is serious, cast Will Smith as Green Lantern.

The problem DC will always have in getting a Justice League franchise off the ground is that in any such movie, every single second some clown like Green Arrow or Hawkman is on screen is like watching Udonis Haslem take jump shots while LeBron James is drinking Gatorade on the bench.

People don't pay money to watch the JV game.

That's the thing. Marvel built the interest in some of the individual characters, which I think played a big role in the success of Avengers.

Marvel had to go without many of its most recognizable characters, particularly Wolverine and Spider-Man, because it does not own their movie rights. That meant building up characters with less of a following. Iron Man certainly didn't have the high profile of Superman or Batman before Robert Downey, Jr. put on the armor, but that one movie set this whole thing in motion. The Avengers hype was already building before Captain America hit the theaters.

I wonder if DC can do the same thing. Maybe Superman vs. Batman will be huge, but that could just create interest in more World's Finest movies rather than a full Justice League.

Not every version of Luther has been a baldy.

A greater nerd then me can explain but as I recall, this version of Superman is based on a series that featured a Luther with hair. But it seemed like that version was older and more an evil business guy then genius mad scientist type.

Eisenberg is around the same age as the actor playing Superman, so I like that.

I think Irons as Alfred will knock it out of the park.

Eisenberg is too young and not ruthless-looking enough for Lex. Irons will be a slam dunk as Alfred.

Bump.

Jesse Eisenberg will play Lex Luthor, and Jeremy Irons will play Alfred:

I'm intrigued. Solid, solid choices.

Eisenberg is going to look strange without his fro.

Maybe it will be pre-baldness Lex. The versions of the character that have been shown before he lost his hair, it was usually curly.

I still don't see Eisenberg as a good fit. This really needs to be ruthless, badass, genius Lex Luthor and that is not at all what I picture with Eisenberg.

Eisenberg is also 5-7 -- Luthor is supposed to be roughly comparable to Superman in size so when Lex lures him into the inevitable kryptonite/red sun radiation trap to depower him and hold him hostge, he can physically beat the crap out of the depowered hero.

Cavill has about 7 inches and 75 pounds on Eisenberg, so this Lex ain't kicking the crap out of Superman unless he's on death's door already.

Eisenberg is a horrible choice. I love him in a lot of stuff -- Zombieland, Adventureland, The Social Network -- but all his best characters have one thing in common: They're somewhat socially awkward. Lex Luthor is the ultimate egotist. He's more self-assured than any man on the planet. For crying out loud, he has no powers, but he thinks he can take on the most powerful superhero in the DC universe! This is not Eisenberg. In any way. This is a HORRIBLE casting choice, and I don't give a fork about his hair. He's basically played a bunch of versions of the same character, and that character is in no way what Lex Luthor should be.

First of all, Kurtwood Smith would have been a great choice had an early '90s film reboot happened with Gerard Christopher moving from the Superboy show to the film. But that's just my own fan casting.

As far as Eisenberg, it could work. If you can accept that the modern idea of a billionaire entrepreneur is a guy like Zuckerberg, you almost can't blame them for chasing the guy who played that in a film. Eisenberg has roughly played the same character in his films, but it doesn't mean he doesn't have range. I thought he played Zuckerberg without all the annoying ticks of an insecure character, such as the one he did in "Zombieland." Even so, if you think about it, the character of Luthor has always hated Superman. Why? Luthor saw himself superior to everyone else and didn't want that challenged in the public mindset. That's insecurity, plain and simple. I'm sure Eisenberg can convey that more dramatically without channeling stuff like "Zombieland."

If anything, the casting of Heath Ledger, which I hated at first, taught me to not pre-judge something. If I see the movie and hate it, I'll hate it then. I'm willing to give it a shot.
