Yeah, well, Florida's not a top 5 job in the overall scheme of things, and as good as he was, I don't think the guy that just left was a top 5 coach either.

    Donovan was hired from Marshall.

If Grant's a good coach (and recruiter), being at Florida will only help him, not hurt him.

The "it's-a-terrible-move" crowd kills me. Everyone's not wired to take the "safe" and "easy" road, which Dononvan could've done by staying at Florida for another decade. He spoke about the NBA being a challenge for him personally and as a coach. He's always been intrigued by the NBA and never hid that fact. It's challenge he looks forward to, kind of like guys who climb mountains, which is neither safe nor easy.

"I've always been intrigued by the NBA just because it's all basketball," he said, noting the NCAA's restrictions on offseason practice. "That's the one thing that's always been the case for me is I love being in the gym."

He never made a secret about his interest in an NBA job.

Surprised more wasn't made of that hack in Gainesville. Don't think I've read that homerish of a column this year. Do the editors have any respect for the readers? How can any readers take this paper seriously? I don't care if the readers want homerism ... that's terrible.

    * don't know the guy, never gone head-to-head against him for a job, etc

Well this is a fine how-do-you-do. Orlando, on paper, was the perfect fit for him.

Are we to believe the Fox Sports story? It seems odd that they would have this first.

From what I've heard, all the details are correct.

No it's not. Goodman breaks a ton of stories. In fact, he broke that Altman was going back to Creighton.

I would expect the local beat guys to break this. That's all.
