Have all the fun you want, but that's about as far removed from the truth as anything I've ever read on this board.

You're right. That's exactly what I am proposing. Because things were horrible back in the grim days of JFK and Eisenhower and Truman when people were dying young in pools of their own filth after their horrible, miserable lives.

Get a grip, Mike. My ideology is the classical liberalism this country was founded on.

But you own the copyright on humanity and caring, so I understand I am supposed to step aside and let the smart ones like you plan how to allocate what's in everyone's pockets. You know, for the greater good. (See I do dramatic hyperbole, too!)

America's enemies surely love the Tea Party.

Once again, a compelling speech that offers no specific proposal of his own. Offer your own specifics and attempt to lead for once.

I can't believe the Networks -- and all of them are showing him -- gave him time for this.

This isn't an announcement. It was a pure campaign speech.

"Angry Obama" was a disaster on Friday, so know he's re-calibrated and tried to be the "adult in the room" again.

Buy a fucking commercial. To ask for free network time because you've done a piss poor job of getting your message across is a joke.

Live from TPC Avanel, it's John Boehner.

His sound is a little off, and the camera is a little too tight.

At least he's looking at the right camera.

Boehner's speech is the same. Same with most speeches of this nature given by politicians.

A little "sing-songy" in his delivery too.

This shit isn't easy. The President does it regularly. He's got a team dedicated to it, and they're on home turf.

But Boehner's doing ok over all.

Yeah, but he's responding to Obama. It's not like the networks would have just given John Boehner free tv time.

The networks pushed back under Bush about this kind of thing. They denied him time.

So, to give it to Obama for a pure "message" speech is crap. There was nothing new in what he said. No news.

Obama sounded very softspoken. Boehner more passionate.
