    I take it Hennesy must not teach driver's ed.

    a) when a car in motion hits a pedestrian, the driver of the car is at fault;

    b) the driver of a car is usually required to be paying enough attention to know when he runs over pedestrians;

    c) maybe you haven't heard from the kid's father yet, but don't worry -- you will.

    What charges does this coach think he would be able to file against the kid?
    Douche to the highest degree.

    i was kind of annoyed the school's web site didn't have an e-mail or phone number for good ol' coach douchebag. they do, however, have a contact form for comments to the district administration, which i happily made use of.

    Since we've seen how he acts when he hits a kid, I can surmise how he will act when his team loses in the final minutes of a game. What an asshat.

    Of course, now it's the media's fault, says ole Corch Hennesy.

    There are difficult coaches from our point of view, there are fair-weather coaches and there are indifferent coaches.

    But this one has sunk so low, I've still yet to hear the "thud."

    I've gone through Muskogee, and I know people from Muskogee. While I'm sure there are some delightful places and some delightful people contained therein, I haven't uncovered them.

    Anyhow...am I the only one shrugging off the debate as to whether or not the coach was misquoted on his comment on "this crap?" Even if so, he's still on the record as saying that it was the kid's fault. This may or may not be true, but it comes off as callous nonetheless. We're talking about a 7-year old.

    And his appearance doesn't really help his cause. If Dog The Bounty Hunter were to somehow birth a bald Klingon baby, I think this is what we'd get.

    Coach Sunshine found time for a 26-11 loss Friday. And we get this gem from the Tulsa World.

    I understand the legalities that may have obligated him to remain at the scene of the accident rather than taking matters into his own hands. I also recognize that he was the typical asshat with his macho attitude and dickhead response to the reporter's questions.

    At the end of the day, though, we're talking about a guy who did make an effort to help the kid. Sure, he might have broken the law, but I think our society is too caught up in protocol. How would they have handled this in Mayberry? Sometimes, I think the innocence of a simpler age is easily brushed aside.

    I just hope we're not judging him based what he says more than for his actions. I think we're probably guilty of that a bit in our profession. Of course, the morning paper might detail how he was at fault and purposefully covered up his drunken driving by insisting that nobody call the police. That's a chance I'll take as I side with the minority.
