I'm not a stakeholder in GM.

    I don't need to. I know a liar when I see one.

I stated my thoughts inartfully. I meant that the mileage was comparable (Sonata 36 mpg for the full tank; Volt gets about 39 mpg for the same distance) but there was a huge premium to buy the Volt.

The Volt sounds great but only 35 miles until internal combustion kicks in? That needs to be better and it probably will very soon.

I got to sit in the Tesla Roadster; now the possibilities floating in my head (zooming around in a Lotus like chassis in an electric car), those were fun.

    Thanks, qt.

That Fisker Karma is a beautiful car as well.

That's for sure the low-end estimate.

Then quit complaining about tax dollars.

    You mean this Fisker Karma?

    http://news.consumerreports.org/cars/2012/09/fisker-karma-earns-a-failing-grade-from-consumer-reports.html

The one that broke down before Consumer Reports could even begin its test? The one that required a recall to fix a cooling system problem that caused cars to catch on fire (http://www.insideline.com/fisker/karma/2012/2012-fisker-karma-recalled-following-california-fire.html)? And another recall to fix ongoing battery problems and instrumentation issues (http://www.thedetroitbureau.com/2012/03/battery-recall-latest-setback-for-fisker-karma/)? The one Consumer Reports said has "bigger issues here, compromises inherent in the car's basic design and execution. The Karma falls short with: poor dash controls, limited visibility, a cramped interior, awkward access into and out of the seats, an engine that is noisy when running, long battery recharge times, and a small backseat and trunk. The Karma's heavy, SUV-like weight affects agility and performance, and the Karma lacks the oomph you would expect.

Expectations are high with a car that retails for over $100,000. And this car fell well short."

Yeah, that's a freakin' humdinger. Can't wait to get me one (for more than $100,000).

I said it was 'beautiful' - and it is. I didn't say it worked.

(Henrik Fisker also designed the BMW Z8 and the Aston Martin DB9.)

BFD. Maybe it should be sold as a driveway sculpture rather than a car.

I saw something about those Fisker cars that exploded on the port during the hurricane and shook my head.

I could care less about Fisker or Tesla, all things being equal.

I do have a problem with the fact that our government added to our collective debt, by giving it an unsecured loan of more than half a billion dollars, and letting it draw down $193 million of it before freezing their access. What is $193 million of wasted government spending? They make "beautiful" cars.
