Claire B. Lang gone from SiriusXM NASCAR Radio

This one came out of nowhere. Claire B. Lang, without question the hardest-working woman in NASCAR media, is out at SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

Wait, scratch that: she was without question the hardest-working PERSON (female or male), period, in NASCAR media.

Claire made a couple of posts this morning about her departure on her social media page. She said she wasn't given a chance to say goodbye to her loyal listeners -- so it would appear she was laid off or fired or her contract wasn't renewed?

She promised in her social media post that she'll have more to say in the near future and that the next chapter is also coming.

Claire may not have been everyone's cup of tea, and she could be tough around the edges at times, but she earned it because she out-hustled and out-worked every reporter in the business, hands down. Even Bob Pockrass was a distant second to her when it came to effort and time logged working. And I don't mean that as a putdown to Bob. I'm sure he'd likely agree to that assessment of CBL.

SiriusXM NASCAR Radio (as well as the overall sports agenda at SiriusXM Satellite Radio) has gone through a number of changes over the last year and it appears there are even more still to come. If CBL could get the axe, no one is safe there.

CBL will land on her feet. She's too talented not to. Even though she's now in her late 50s or early 60s, she'd still be a perfect fit for Fox Sports on NASCAR TV telecasts as a pit/garage reporter, chasing down breaking news and feature stories, telling some of the unsung tales of the sport.

Whenever I've covered a NASCAR race, Lang was there before I showed up and she was still on the air when I left. She's a force of nature.

She was off the air for a couple weeks early last season, too, which was weird at the time.

What other changes has the channel made? Haven't listened much since I got out of that world.

But concur with everyone here, Claire B worked like few others. She wasn't my cup of tea either but so what?
