I agree. It's a natural reaction by the player. K isn't always an ass, but he's sure good at it when he tries.

These kinds of things are why I refer to Duke as the Durham Basketball Academy, or DBA for short.

And DBA can easily stand for DoucheBag Academy too.

 

The difference is that Dahntay Jones isn't too good of a player to be a showboat.

 

Somehow Uncle Verne and Spanarkle made Coach K the good guy when the explained it in the game today.
The part about K lying in the presser was ignored.

Was K's problem with Brooks jacking up a half-assed 30-foot 3-pointer that he realized he needed to shoot when the shot clock hit 5, and otherwise would've been happy to dribble out the game clock? And then Brooks being happy that it somehow went in to put a perfect capper on a great night?
If that's the case, K is an ass. Hell of a coach, but an ass.
He should have given the same speech to Grayson Allen a dozen times this season, including for when he blew off the Oregon player trying to give him a hug/handshake/good game at the buzzer. And I'd love to go back and see how many times over the years his players have done something similar to what Brooks did and didn't get the "You're better than that" speech. Maybe he did, and maybe he has. But there was nothing Brooks did that was out of line or showboating on any level.
