If dogshit Illinois gets in and Utah State doesn't there needs to be an investigation.

Gee, imagine of the field were exanded to 96 what utter garbage teams would be playing in that wonderful 32-game play-in round.

Well, Utah State would be in.

Utah State certainly deserves to be in the NCAA field.
I am not in favor of enlarging the field to 94 or whatever they said.
If they were to enlarge it, why couldn't they just go to, say, 72, and come up with a formula to make it work?
Frankly, we don't need to enlarge the field.
The NCAA and TV are married, and that relationship rules the day.
Utah State deserves to be in the field this year for sure. I'd say no lower than a 12 seed, and maybe as high as an 8 or 9.

Why stop at 96? Why not make it a complete sham and go all the way to 330 and ditch the conference tournaments all together?

There should be some minimum standards for D-I membership in basketball. Say, a minimum 7,000-seat gym and a minimum 4,000 average home attendance. Some D-I schools have no business competing on that level.

Why even bother with the regular season?

Even John Clayton -- of all people -- had the
heart to not-so-subtly trash the 96-tears
concept on ESPN radio, last night.

    Awful. Putrid.

And for those who have waited all this time to see Roy Williams get his . . . about time.

Hell, Zag, I've heard some supposedly rational people arguing for just that point of view. You could put together a 256-team bracket and only add two more rounds to the tournament. And if they did away with the conference tournaments (along with the NIT, CBI, CIA, CSI, etc.), I'm not sure that would be such a horrible idea. But, man, what a bracket nightmare that would be. Seriously, though, the current set-up is just about perfect.

  10. Amazing how similar that shot last night was to the shot that Ray Allen hit to beat Georgetown back in 1996.

Same basket. Same bobble of the ball. Same near throw that rolled around and went in.

Just a different John Thompson on the Georgetown bench.

If osu gets a 1 over west virginia that's idiotic. Wvu won a better conference and won head to head.

    Absolutely.

Provided Duke wins today, they're the fourth #1. No way the committee's going to dis the
ACC to that extent, by doing otherwise.
