    Interesting happenings in Manhattan, KS.
John Currie, K-State AD who last week took the Tennessee job was never really much liked by some of his former coaches. Fairly safe to say that if K-State doesn't make the tourney, Weber is out.........do you reach out to Frank Martin?........Underwood?........

    Frank Martin? Too shady.

    Brad Underwood? Bad hair dye.

    Frank Underwood? Yes.

I don't see Underwood leaving after a year for a comparable program in the same conference, even if he is an alum. I suppose it could jumpstart a really intense Aggie rivalry if he did.

Their weird thing about Anderson is a lot of Arkansas people seem to have soured on him (they sure as hell don't show up to watch his team) even though he's taking them back to the dance this year.

Everyone in the SEC outside of Kentucky and maybe Vandy and Florida is convinced basketball doesn't matter, it's not where the money is and not worth supporting. Of course it's something of a self fulfilling prophecy.

Arkansas hasn't been the same program since Nolan Richardson got himself fired. They were AWFUL for a six-year run.

They finally brought Anderson back to recapture the 1990s magic, but it's happening in fits and starts. NIT, second round, no tournament over last 3 years. It'll take a legit Top 15 season to fill the Bud Bowl again.

I wonder what would have changed if Dana Altman hadn't backed out of the Arkansas job.

Altman would have gotten fired after six years for crashing a motorcycle east of Fayetteville and Petrino would still be there.

Altman bet correctly. He got Creighton into a basketball power conference and avoided Eddie Sutton's fate.

(Again, Power 5 doesn't apply to the thump-thump sport.)

That depends on Arkansas' views on the liberal use of fifth-year transfers, its ability to somehow get a sixth-year of eligibility for players who previously redshirted while healthy, its acceptance of undergraduate transfers who'd been expelled from other schools, and an academic record that makes any school where Bob Huggins coached look like Harvard or Yale.

Had Arkansas been OK with that, it probably would win, because Altman can coach. Creighton wasn't OK with it, apparently.

I would be very surprised if any of that would have bothered Arkansas but maybe the standards are higher in thier basketball program than thier football program.
