I am not endorsing Daly's character but if Missouri goes 2-16 next year in the SEC he will be very welcome on campus. And if he brought in a lot of talent they would name the School of Agriculture after him.

Yeah, but how about fouls per possession? The slow down style leads to fewer fouls.

Iowa has been trying to do it uptempo for McCaffery's seven years. It's worked pretty well in rising from the Lickliter sludgeball. Still, he only has one NCAA win in seven years.

I just love that the phrase "the oily motherfucker" surfaced here.

So there weren't multiple games where fanboys were complaining here about their foul tallies?

That was me, and it was that they weren't getting fouls called when they were on offense.

Also, they were 60th in shooting percentage this year, in a down year. You must hate an awful lot of teams.

True, but they are still in the top half of D-I and ahead of Wichita State, Dayton, Baylor, Maryland, Louisville and Florida Gulf Coast, among others.

John Thompson III is not a very good recruiter. Routinely loses out on top-tier talent in DC and Balt, two nearby hotbeds.

It's the corollary to Rudy G's "noun, verb, 9/11." With Daly, it's "noun, verb, oily motherfucker."

    312th in scoring per game.

The shooting percentage is higher than I expected, but their shots per game are lower than most teams. So the overall offensive efficiency, including nose hairs, is not great.

Iowa also had somewhat of an uptempo image over the years under Lute Olson, Tom Davis and (sometimes) Raveling. Obviously Iowa isn't going to out-recruit anybody on the sheer glamour of Iowa City, so you'd think they'd want to establish an on-court identity of their own unique from all the grinders.

As you note McCaffery is giving it a shot, but he needs a full fledged successful season (20+ wins, Top 25, NCAA bid, upper division of B1G) to really look like he's accomplishing anything.

Iowa is a place I could see a guy like Shaka Smart getting something going.

I suppose it would also help Iowa if the B1G went to divisions in basketball.

I took it as "name successful African American coaches who aren't labeled as 'great recruiters.'"
