Mizzou's bowl is just six to seven hours away. No idea what the tickets would cost, and hotel rates there are outrageous, so I doubt I'll go. But I'd like to.

Sort of related, but me and a buddy took the Yankee Stadium tour on Thursday just to kill some time waiting for that night's show, and they still had the football field from Notre Dame-Army since they'd be hosting the Pinstripe Bowl after. I had always assumed that the football sightlines would be awful in a baseball stadium, but other than getting a seat directly behind a foul pole, they weren't bad at all.

Somebody in the Red Sox brain trust is seething that the Pinstripe Bow gets to start an hour later and be on ABC instead of basic cable.

After last year's 63-3 Orange Bowl debacle when Florida State essentially opted out against Georgia is that future contracts between bowls and conferences will include a provision that part of payouts to the schools will instead go to the players in order to ensure their participation.

Virtually every bowl game is sponsored. The title sponsor could just pay out part of the fee to the player as NIL.

Also this weekend, for us fans of option and service academy football:

Army vs. Navy, noon PST, in Baltimore (CBS)

Both teams are having a good season, so there might be more offense than usual.

With those offenses (which I find entertaining), each team should wear tearaway jerseys.

It’s a consolation prize for losing Soto.

Wonder if that was intentional to schedule them at roughly the same time, part of the contracts, or just the way things worked out.
