Rydell should have a little clock next to his avatar to let us know when he's due to go off ... tick, tick, tick ..

Right.........Rip me when I say sportswriting should ascend to something better?

Dude, you're fine 90 percent of the time, and then you have these out-of-the-blue moments where your idealism becomes standoffish and misplaced.

They tend to involve Penn State's honor being questioned, so it's not completely out-of-the-blue.

You play-by-play geeks should have been following the Weber State-Portland State game.

1,189 offensive yards.

141 total points. 73-68 final score.

Two suicidal defensive coordinators.

AP guy who wrote the gamer obviously didn't see Boise St. a few weeks ago.

"The previous record for most points by two teams was 136, set in 1968 when North Park beat North Central 104-32 in a Division III game. The Division I record was 133, set in 2004 when San Jose State beat Rice 70-63."

Umm...no. That Boise State score was 69-67.

The Boise State score was in four OTs. I think he's talking about in regulation. i could so be wrong though.

Well, the Boise State game was cited as a record, so I don't think that makes a difference. He doesn't cite regulation in the story, either. Who knows.

Good thing Fullmer used that timeout to ice the kicker. That wouldn't come in handy right about now.

I was wondering what Brad Fullmer was up to since he left the Angels.

Pardon my lack of message-board perfection (or knowledge of how to spell the names of everyone in the sports world). Enjoy your mistake-free existence, meanwhile. It must make life pretty boring, though, I must say.

It was a joke.

You know, haha funny joke?

He may also have been looking at the record book from the start of the season.

Not a good excuse, of course, but maybe an explanation.

Ahh, gotcha.

That was actually the first thing I thought when I saw the story. It happens.

KYSportswriter ... if it was a joke, it wasn't funny. And if it was an unfunny joke, it was still a weak jab.

How about that 15-lateral play that Trinity (Tx) ran at the end of the game to beat Millsaps (and Mike DuBose) 28-24?
If you don't know what I'm talking about, watch it for yourself...

ESPN just ran it 3 times between the end of SportsCenter and the start of College Football Final.
Un-forking-believable.
Better than Cal-Stanford "The Play," only no trombone player getting run over.
