That too long of a jump for me. Nashville would be a stretch.

Just putting it out there in case someone was interested.

Are any of you Dixie denizens familiar with Will Kimbrough? He's going to perform a house concert in Madison, Wi., in March.
I've followed the guy since the early '90s when he was with a band called The Bis-Quits.

The B-Qs were predated by Will and the Bushmen, long known as the greatest frat party band in Nashville in the late 80s. Must have seen them 10 times at the SAE house or an occasional wedding back in my college party days on West End. Awesome call-back, MGB!

Glad to hear that rang a bell, Vols. The guy is a pretty fine songwriter, and he sure can play. I hope he brings the National guitar to the show that he plays on this vid. The music starts at 5:00 if you don't want to sit through the chatter, although I enjoyed it myself.

Going to see Anthrax and Black Label Society tomorrow night. Never seen BLS -- very excited. It's supposed to get down to -7 but it's in the arena at Mohegan Sun Resort & Casino and my buddy who I'm going with has "earned" enough points there to get the tickets comped and a room for like $50 so we don't need to be outside or worry about having to drive back to Boston afterward.

NICE. I'll be going to the Sunday show. Anthrax always delivers and I'm excited to hear "Only" with Joey.

Saw BLS back in '06 in a general admission club. Got to hang with Zakk Wylde and I really enjoyed my time with him. It was also clear that when he said his only interests were playing guitar, drinking beer, and lifting weights, he meant it. Dude was HUGE.

BTW, Joey Belladonna’s Beyond Frontiers does Journey better than Journey these days.

Pretty fascinating set list from last night's Hold Steady show in D.C. (Also, how the hell my old man ass got through a 10 p.m. show and drove back to Richmond, I don't know, but I did it.)

The show last week in Brooklyn was on the 20th anniversary of their first show, so they basically played all of "Almost Killed Me." Last night, the only songs they played from that album were Milkcrate Mosh (a b-side) and Killer Parties, because that's the traditional show ender. Nothing at all from Heaven Is Wherever either. Lots of Boys and Girls in America and Stay Positive, plus a couple of tracks from the upcoming new album. I had casually mentioned to someone I hoped they'd play Lord I'm Discouraged, because it has one of the band's best guitar solos, and they did, and it killed. They also threw in One For The Cutters, which I don't think I've ever heard live. Another great show, and I can't wait to do it three more times in London next month.

Anthrax/BLS/Exodus at Mohegan was a great show. Most of the crowd looked like the geriatric unit in a maximum security prison. And the mosh pit looked more like aerobics than a mosh pit from the 90s. But all three bands were on point. I'd love to see them again tomorrow night in Boston but it's not in the cards.

I'll let you know how it was...

I'll probably reach my cardiovascular mosh limit during "Pirhana" and it'll be jazzercize until The Toxic Waltz

I saw Chuck Berry play a private Gore-Tex party at the 1988 ski industry show in Vegas. The theme was American Originals. He and his band were on a little stage about two feet off the ballroom floor and by the end, a bunch of us were up there with him, dancing.
