Craig Biggio Hall of Famer?

I think he deserves serious consideration. I love the fact that he's been able to play so many positions. Robin Yount is in the HOF and he was solid at multiple spots. Biggio reaches 3,000 hits and it will give him a milestone mark that should make it harder to keep him out.

I personally think both Craig and Manny, if they stopped playing today, wouldn't make it. However between the two players, Manny would get the nod over Craig and I like Craig an awful lot.

Not sure what your logic is there, boots.

Biggio is a lot higher up the list of all-time greats at his position than Manny is right now.

    I'll go the intangible route.

He's in now. But if it's a close vote, I think his image will put him over the top; he's a gritty ball player with a throw-back image that many people love to watch.

I certainly love seeing a guy hustle the way Biggio does.

Yeah, but Manny is a Hall of Fame-type hitter with a sick power/contact combination. Manny's in. No question.

Manny's in, provided he plays at least 4-5 more years (even considering a normal decline.)

He really does stand out among hitters of his generation (even taking into account this era's skewed numbers.)

Take a look at Gray Ink test on baseball-reference.com. Top 10 in his league in almost every category, every year. He's led the league at least once in BA, HR, RBI, SLG, OBP, OPS, RC ... perennial All-Star for a decade ... a World Series MVP ... top 10 in MVP voting 8 straight years, including three top-5s ... on his way to about 550-600 HRs and a .310-.315 career batting average, possibly 2,000 RBI ... oh yeah, he's in. He's in.

Is Craig worthy of consideration, certainly. As I said. He's a great guy and I've been aquainted with him for years. But if he doesn't get 3,000, I'm not so sure that he gets in. If he does, it won't be by first ballot unless there is a thin list of contenders.

That's exactly what I looked at before I posted, just to make sure I wasn't mistaken. Look at who and how he stacks up against other 33-year olds.

just to be clear, I think when all's said and done, Manny's in.

But if you look at the similar hitters to Biggio who played 2B, he's a lock.

Give the HOF voters some credit. They usually get it right.

    Cough! Blyleven. Cough!

  11. Well, they fucked Ron Santo for years. Also, Jim Rice.

    Rice I agree.

Santo gets into the hall the same way I do -- buying a fucking ticket.
