    Description:
We're looking for a "digital first, print last"-approach Sports Editor for our daily newspaper in Middletown. We're part of Journal Register Company, which has gone from poster child of what was wrong with the print newspaper industry to the other extreme: moving as fast and as radically in the direction of "digital first" as any traditional media company these days. Read more about the changes at Journal Register on our CEO's blog, http://jxpaton.wordpress.com. Want to join the fight? Send your resume and a cover letter to Editor Viktoria Sundqvist at vsundqvist@middletownpress.com.

Does this mean that we still are terrible at straight journalism, but we're prettying it up with bells and whistles?

$30K to live in Middletown, when you're going to be working at least 50 hours a week? Oy. And the design (print and online) is hideous.

I've got to say, I like how they admit that JRC sucked in the past.

They stole that sales pitch from Domino's.

    Digital first, huh?
    Hilarious.
How about getting it right first, then worry about what form it takes?
That's enough of an issue for places like this, before they start blowing their little whistles and ringing their little bells.
    Must be Christmas.

Not to get too far off track, but I was really hoping to click the link and see a nice, vibrant website. After all, they're hiring "digital first" surely they're doing something different that will really make it.

Nope. Terrible design, obviously just slapped together with a CMS.

I think you can say that about most newspaper websites.

Sounds like the Sentinel and Enterprise in Fitchburg when I worked there...
