Doc, my grandpa used to say a mild heart attack was one that didn't kill you. Given that heart attacks killed him and his father, I figured he was on the money.

It's only fair that we segue from heart disease to the next web entry. It seems that a little blue pill has made its way into baseball lockers. It may be news in North America, but it's old news in the pro cycling world and studies about performance enhancement have been around from at least 5 years.

More on the website. Thanks for reading

Heart attack part deux. The outcomes for two patients suffering heart attacks couldn't be more diverse. Kelsey Grammer walks out of the hospital with a new perspective on life; Tim Russert doesn't make it past the ER.

Life isn't fair. More on the website.

The truth about Tiger's grimaces after every swing this weekend has come to light. Aside from arthroscopic knee surgery rehab, he was battling a torn ACL and a tibial stress fracture. I guess that makes him less than 100% for the US Open and he still won. Little consolation for teh rest of teh field.

More about stress fractures and ACL injuries on the website. Thanks again for reading.

    Doc,

My eyes have gone blurry badly twice today at work. Do I need glasses or something? Or am I getting diabetes?

The sun pours into my office through a window without a shade and bothers my eyes. Do UV rays penetrate glass -- I've heard not -- and are UV rays contained in reflected sunlight, such as off the windows of a neighboring high-rise? Thanks, I'll hang up now.

UV B rays are blocked by your window, but UV A rays can pass through. Both have adverse skin potential with the UV A rays penetrating deeper into skin tissue.

Dying of heart failure is not a pleasant way to go, but George Carlin never took the easy route. Today's web entry explains heart failure. Not a sexy topic but a deadly one.

July 1 is like New Years day in the hospital. Out with the old residents and in with the new. Scrubs and Grey's Anatomy just don't get it right. More on the website this week.

In an era where athletes are often vilified for their off field behavior, we should remind ourselves that most are nice folk who do the right thing. Tony Gonzalez was able to save a choking man's life by doing the Heimlich manuever. Go Tony.
