What if another person on the plain tackled her because she was a perceived threat? What would have happened to him?

I don't understand why the pilot's ass isn't in the fire over this. Once the plane door is shut the pilot is not supposed to open the cockpit door under ANY circumstances. WTF? Someone runs up to the cockpit with a cell phone on and the pilot opens the door? Breaks plenty of post 9/11 security rules. Someone in news should be doing a story on how the hell this happened, and just what the rules are.

And arrived 10 minutes early at the other end.

As I said before, who the hell cares?

Sidestepping the infinite bitchitude of Ms. Couric, if there are security backups sufficient enough to make people miss a plane, shouldn't someone at the airport step in and hold said plane? Then again, the plane was pretty much on time, so security must have been going pretty smoothly. Also, this producer is the one who needs to take the heat, since, you know, he's the one who was late in the first place. And yeah, all this stuff could have been avoided with a chartered jet.

I agree with this. If the door was indeed closed, it should stay closed.

Now the hijackers know how to get in the cockpit. Just tell the flight attendants that Katie Couric is standing outside and wants to talk to them.
