First overall pick in a league that drafts next weekend. Non-keeper. H2H.

Here are the categories (copied from Yahoo!): Runs (R), Runs Batted In (RBI), Fielding Percentage (FPCT), Batting Average (AVG), On-base + Slugging Percentage (OPS), Wins (W), Saves (SV), Earned Run Average (ERA), (Walks + Hits)/ Innings Pitched (WHIP), Strikeouts per Walk Ratio (K/BB)

    Who would be your pick?

    I'm thinking Matt Kemp.

Miguel Cabrera. He's as consistent as they come, and the 3B eligibility he'll pick up 2-3 weeks into the season puts him over the top. I guess the defense will hurt you a little bit, though.

Don't pay for Kemp's career year.

Hate to quote myself, but I'm still torn about this. Right now I'm leaning toward the 1st 4 hitters.

Not awful. Basically the same as taking hitters in the first four rounds if you drafted from scratch, which is not a bad strategy at all.

Personally, go with Braun, Reyes, Stanton and Strasburg.

I'm big on having guys on my team who are "fun to own," and Strasburg is definitely one of those. I missed a chance to draft Lincecum before his first full season — in favor of a long-since-forgotten "safe" pick — and have regretted it ever since.

Got my first draft coming up in the morning. It is a keeper league, so we each held on to 14 players. I think I'm going to have the following guys on the board when I pick. Any thoughts on who you like?

    Anibal Sanchez
    Cory Luebke
Chris Young (the outfielder, not the broken down pitcher)
    Mark Reynolds

One important thing to note. We do not have batting average as a category. We do have OPS, so that helps Young and Reynolds.

Young, because he's got the potential to help you in four categories (HR, RBI, SB and runs).

Thanks. He and Sancez ended up being taken before me, but Aramis Ramirez fell to me, which was a bit of a surprise. I took A-Ram.

Brett Lawrie is hitting .560-something in the spring.

I just took him 63rd overall, not necessarily because I think he's the second coming. But I think he is going to be easy to trade. Buzzy prospects always are.

It was either that or Kevin Youkilis. I would have been stuck with him.
