Makes sense. If those are the options, I'd rather have Lawrie. I just don't trust Youkilis to stay healthy, especially since there is no room for him anywhere but 3B.

Should I drop Chris Carpenter in my keeper league and try to get him at a lower cost? I've got him for $40 right now, but everything I've read says no one is sure if he'll be ready for the start of the season.

    What would you do?

Yes. A 35-year-old pitcher with a bad wing ain't worth half that (assuming your salary cap is the standard $260) ...

I forget the exact figure, but I'm pretty sure it's close to that.

Then yes, cut him loose. Even before this latest injury, he wasn't worth that much.

Now another question. I have 12 players left, and have to get down to seven or eight. I'm not sure yet because our league commish hasn't set anything up yet.

But when it comes time, here are my players:

    C - Buster Posey
    1B - Freddie Freeman
    3B - David Freese
    OF - Emilio Bonafacio
    OF - Alex Presley
    OF - Ryan Roberts
    P - Heath Bell
    P - John Axford
    P - Jaime Garcia
    P - Kyle Kendrick
    P - Anibal Sanchez

Who would you keep if you had to get rid of five? I'm definitely hanging on to Posey, Axford and Bell. Outside of that, I'm not sure who I'll keep.

In a keeper, I'd hold on to Freeman. I like the upside.

Is Bonifacio eligible at shortstop and third base in your league? He is eligible at both in just about any format. For that reason, I'd make him your fifth.

After that I guess I'd keep Sanchez and Garcia. I think Roberts was a fluke and Freese just can't stay healthy, so keep the arms.

    So my 7 would be:
    Posey
    Freeman
    Bonifacio
    Bell
    Axford
    Garcia
    Sanchez

If you get an 8th, then keep Freese.

If you have to dump one of the following, who would it be?

Choo, Youkilis, Josh Johnson or Pineda.

Is that all you have or just part of your list of options?

If we assume that you an keep three of those four and nobody else, I drop Pineda. Not that sold on him, especially with the change in home ballparks.

Bonifacio is eligible at 3B, SS and OF in my league.

As far as their salaries go:
    Bell -- $19
    Freeman -- $18
    Freese -- $18
    Axford -- $15
    Garcia -- $14
    Kendrick -- $10
    Posey -- $10
    Bonifacio -- $10
    Presley -- $10
    Roberts -- $10
    Sanchez -- $8

Also: I was leaning toward keeping Presley. I like the kid's upside just as much as I do Freeman's.

I'd be wary of any Miami pitcher until we see how the new ballpark is going to play. SunLife/Landshark/Joe Robbie/whatever was a pretty good pitcher's park ...
