Not to be confused with the fantasy baseball league thread, I figured it was about time for a discussion thread for SJ.com's fantasy baseball fans.

I think one of the better stories is Shohei Ohtani. He could end up creating some challenges for roster rules in fantasy baseball leagues, but how good is he? I'm hearing and reading a lot of hype, but there was also a report of elbow trouble not long after the Angels signed him, so I'm not sure he's a great bet. What do y'all think?

I just joined up as an expansion squad in a 15-team keeper league. They had a good bit of turnover due to a switch from Yahoo to Fantrax. The league allows two keepers, so we have a two-round, slow-format expansion draft now, then the full draft in March.

I've got the sixth pick, so my top three (Altuve, Arenado and Trea Turner) will likely be gone. I'm guessing I'll have a choice of Blackmon, Rizzo and Freddie Freeman and I'm torn. Blackmon is the highest rated, but he's 32 and I think he's going to regress a little. Rizzo and Freeman are both rated fairly low for that pick, but they are younger and bring versatility. Freeman is eligible at first and third base. Rizzo is eligible at second base as well as first. Am I reaching?

More importantly, how would y'all rank those three?

    Just auto-draft.

    Less stressful.

And you’ll get a bunch of Pirates!

My gut feeling is Rizzo-Freeman-Blackmon. And I have absolutely no statistical data to back that up.

Or just draft Billy Hamilton and win stolen bases every week.

That was my gut as well, though I misread the picks and Trea Turner fell to me, so I'm good.
