Maybe a dumb question, but what makes Augusta National a "national" - is it just their name, and an effort to denote that they have members from throughout the country? Or is their something else that makes a club a "national" like the "royal" courses on the other side of the pond?

Other weird thing I've never really realized about The Masters. No overhead shots, no aerial coverage, no cranes. The camera placements haven't change ever since I've started watching this thing.

Just the name of the course.

Not only no overhead shots from a blimp, no on-course announcers ala Roger Maltbie, et al. All announcers in a booth at their respective back-nine hole(s). Only tournament that doesn't allow media (photogs exempt) inside the ropes.

i admitted from jump street i know diddly about the ways of golf, which is why i ask for guidance. there are many who know more than i do -- and dare i say, as much as you -- who have akso weighed in on the issue of ti ger dq'ing himself. and, in his case in particular, i wouldnt imagine that forfeiting his earnings for the tourney would impact of any deision he may have made, he apparently never ven considered it. fine. i dont think i deserve to be jumped for asking if it would have been a good p.r. move for a guy who could use some good p.r.

He didn't direct the comment to you. Who he was directing it toward has a history of trolling and saying stupid shit in an attempt to piss people off vs. someone like you who admits you need guidance/help with how things go because you're out of the loop on certain things, so to speak.

As a casual golf fan, how does a fan watching at home on TV get the number to the rules committee? Is it listed on PGATour.com? Did he phone Augusta National or something? I'm really interested in the process of how a fan does that.

According to Dan Wetzel you call Augusta National and ask for the scoring officials.

Call them tomorrow and ask if they have Prince Albert in a can.

Although AP is reporting is was Jim Nantz who called Augusta officials to the possible infraction.

Wonder what happens in Butler Cabin tomorrow night if Woods wins and has to greet Nantz.

Hadn't heard Nantz specifically but it has been mentioned that it was CBS that alerted the rules officials about Tiger's interview.
