With college basketball around the corner and multiple sports in-season, Field Level Media has immediate opportunities for freelance writing and editing positions.

Field Level Media provides breaking news and coverage of more than 7,000 annual events, with content appearing everywhere from ESPN to the New York Times and dozens of regional newspapers.

All work is remote, with editors working in a virtual newsroom and flexible hours available. Writers can join our network of more than 200+ journalists across North America, with a focus on subject matter expertise for the sport(s) they cover for our global client who demand quality journalism.

If interested, please send resume and relevant writing samples to jobs@fieldlevelmedia.com.

So, there's no in-person reporting? You looking for journalists or bloggers?

Correct. And a friend who did some work with them said the pay was crap.

Journalists with subject matter expertise in the sport(s) they're covering, not bloggers. Our core business is a wire service that provides breaking news, previews and recaps to print and digital clients on deadline.

The majority of our writers and editors have been with us for several years and enjoy the flexibility of assignments that complements their other work. Most have extensive industry experience and we also work hard to provide opportunities for up-and-coming journalists.

But is there any in-person reporting or credentialing for events?

Yes, we do cover many postseason events for the "Big 6" sports in-person, along with All-Star games and marquee games and events across several sports throughout the year. Standard daily game coverage is primarily remote.

@Derek H. What's your pay scale for freelance writers and editors? Please be specific.

@Slacker, writer pay is per assignment and varies based on the sport due to different requirements. That includes 7,000+ annual events, previews and custom content.

Depending on the sport, recaps range from $20-30/per game and previews $15-25 for our wire service. Standard freelance editor pay is $20/hour. We also produce a wide range of custom content, from analysis and columns to betting-related pieces, NFL Draft content and print projects, with pay dependent upon the task.

Interested candidates are encouraged to inquire about opportunities at jobs@fieldlevelmedia.com, which goes directly to our editorial management team.
