    is looking for a web-savvy freelance sports reporter to cover Orlando’s emerging soccer community for Orlando-Rising.com.

    We seek for the right person to join our Central Florida team to cover Major League Soccer, focusing on the Orlando City Soccer Club. The chosen candidate will follow industry trends and other sports-related stories as assigned.

    The ideal candidate, either an entry level freelancer or current student, should be a strong writer, have an interest in gaining virtual newsroom experience, an understanding of digital media, and love sports. Knowledge of a wide variety of sports is an asset, as is experienced with social media and basic photo editing skills.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Qualified candidates will have an ability to write and edit quality, accurate content on deadline with rapidly changing priorities. The ideal individual will have superior organizational skills, a working knowledge MLS soccer and prior experience in sports reporting.

    Additional requirements include understanding best practices of real-time reporting; ability to create multimedia packages – including video and photos – using digital storytelling tools; familiarity with social media, including Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook; assertive and creative coverage; be results-oriented and have a passion for online journalism.

    Preferred experience:

    • Experience and/or interest in reporting and digital writing in a fast-paced environment

    • Familiarity with photo editing and equipment, from smartphones to professional-grade cameras, is a plus

    • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends

    • Reliable transportation
