    Well said.

There are diamonds in the considerable rough of Deadspin. Jordan's account of attending spring break was pretty good too.

I don't know if this is my fault or Deadspin's - perhaps a little it of both - but I had no idea that they had that kind of legitimate content on their site. Every time I've visited it, usually directed from here or by a media firestorm like the Favre thing, it looks like the circus is in town, and it turns me off right away. Some people like that kind of stuff. My younger brother, who is 31, goes on and on about how hilarious Tucker Max is, while that kind of humor just bores me to tears. I know that's not Deadspin, but that's the audience.

I fully admit to being a bit of a journalistic and cultural elitist.

I'm the same way. It's like if you wanted to hang out with a particular person because you think they're cool, but they're always with that shithead friend who you want to stab. It's just not worth the hassle. I thought Tucker Max was cool and funny for about a month - 10 years ago.

I only heard of Daulerio about three months ago and never found him to be bright, entertaining or really good at anything. I must be in the minority, though.

If you didn't know Deadspin has that kind content, you should try checking it out more. You don't have to click on the dong shots. Scott Boras basically said Deadspin's release of teams' financials lead to an increase in spending in some case. I've pumped his tires before here, but Craggs is one of the best sports essayists in the business. (I like Drew, but understand why his style turns people off.)

In my defense, they don't exactly advertise it very well.

I go to the site, and these are the headlines I see:

"Masseuse Claims She Received Lewd Texts From Vikings Players, Including Brett Favre"

"When Auburn Fans Descend on Wal-Mart"

"The Meaning of 'Fuck Tom Brady' and the Genius of Rex Ryan's Trash-Talking"

"This May or May Not Be Rex Ryan's Wife Making Foot Fetish Videos"

"Dead Wrestler of the Week: Ravishing Rick Rude"

Something about tennis players on their periods.

Something about Amani Toomer cursing someone out at a roller hockey game.

A photo of a tennis player I've never heard of with a tennis ball in her pants.

All of this, mind you, presented about as low-fi as possible.

Craggs may be great. I loved the Joe Morgan piece when it appeared in BASW a few years back. But my time is too valuable and limited to have to wade through a mangled, confusing format and 15 headlines about asses, dicks, white trash, wrestlers, and menstruation in the hopes of clicking on that occasional gem that - I will take your words for it - apparently exist on the site. Not to mention that most of these are the same exact stories that were on the site's front page when I visited it yesterday.

Dick, I've found the best way to follow Deadspin is via an RSS feed. I can see the headlines on the site, which allows me to skip the BS yet not miss the quality posts.

It'll be interesting to see if Craggs and Magary decide to leave before Daulerio pulls them under.

Craggs is an essayist. Magary is a humorist. Daulerio is a pornographer.

Stupid question about an earlier thread on this post:
How does an RSS Feed work? I think I know what it is but have no clue how it works.

The fact that Will Leitch and A.J. Daulerio don't discuss Deadspin - and that Leitch disagreed with posting the Erin Andrews content - intrigued me.

The fact that Deadspin is essentially turning into an online tabloid makes me understand why Leitch keeps his distance - post-Deadspin, Leitch is now part of "the establishment."

If you've got the right browser, all you need to do is go here ... feed://feeds.gawker.com/deadspin/full

You'll get a list of the stories on Deadspin, showing the headline — maybe a sentence or two— and any accompanying photos.

The Dead Wrestler of the Week author is fantastic. Probably the best stuff on the site, along with Nate Jackson and some of the stuff by Craggs. I like Magary's writing most of the time, but he's getting too old to write poop jokes.

I call bull. Deadspin does about one podcast a quarter, and Leitch has been on the last two, the latest made 12-29-10.
