Green Bay Packers beat position

Discussion in 'Journalism Jobs' started by ChristopherWalsh, Jun 16, 2015.

  1. The following ad just showed up on journalism jobs.com, and if you want to learn how to do an NFL beat the right way you won't find people who are better at it than Bob and Tom:

We are seeking a reporter to join our team covering the Green Bay Packers.

The ideal candidate will be an excellent reporter and writer with a strong work ethic who can do it all well, from enterprise feature writing, to daily beat reporting and breaking news, to game coverage, to blogging and chats and videos and podcasts and social media.

The Journal Sentinel's team on the Packers beat includes veteran reporters Bob McGinn and Tom Silverstein, both of whom have covered the team since before Brett Favre was quarterback. The eagerness to learn from them and to work in a collaborative and complementary way is important.

The job is based in Green Bay and the person filling it will be expected to live in the Green Bay area.

Candidate should have knowledge of and comfort with web tools and programs, including content management systems, HTML, Photoshop, video and audio editing tools, and social media such as Facebook and Twitter. Some experience covering a college or professional sports team is preferred.

Applications should be in writing to Mike Davis, Assistant Managing Editor / Sports, at mdavis@journalsentinel.com.

    Deadline: 5 p.m. Friday, June 26.

What are the application materials that we'd have to send in to complete it?
