Happy Birthday to Van the Man

Today is Van the Man's 61st birthday. Here are what I consider Van Morrison's top 5 songs.

1. Moondance
2. Into the Mystic
3. Brown Eyed Girl
4. And It Stoned Me
5. (tie) Have I Told You Lately (tie) Real Real Gone

Domino and Wild Night just missed the cut.

 

With that one came a Google ad for Moondance vacation homes in Nashvegas.

 

Wild Night and Tupelo Honey have to be up in the top five. I'd also argue for Caravan. Have I Told You Lately is not classic Van. If anyone else is singing it, it's sap (as Rod Stewart showed).

Tupelo Honey is great but it is tough to limit Van Morison to the half dozen best.

Have I Told You Lately is on my list because it is special to my wife and I. The Rod Stewart version makes me want to puke.
