I'll be spending the weekend in a house full of Eagles fans (the NFL team, not the band), who, I'm sure, will fill me in on their Super Bowl travel plans. As long as no sharp knives are handy, I'll have a lot of fun with that discussion.

Yep, be thankful, even if not exactly happy. Life is precious, and despite everything, it will be good again at some point.

Happy Thanksgiving, even to all the loosers and haters. /trump

But seriously, heading back to my old stomping grounds for the sixth or seventh annual Friendsgiving celebration tonight (I've lost count and may have blacked out on one of them altogether ...), which bleeds into a big buffet-style dinner tomorrow. Always a blast. Usually spend Christmas at home with family but years of having to work the day after Thanksgiving brought this celebration about, so it's fun to keep the tradition going.

Wife's family Thanksgiving on Thursday, then Notre Dame-Minnesota hockey on Friday night, which has become a bit of a day-after-Thanksgiving tradition. And a cheap one for the entertainment value. My brother-in-law and I will also be beating the bushes trying to find Goose Island Bourbon County Stout on Friday morning.

    Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

What regionally specific side dish to people enjoy?

It’s funny, my wife’s family always puts out dinner rolls, which wasn’t traditional growing up, but I didn’t attribute it to a regional thing.

And, green bean casserole has always been a staple for our family, which is from the Northeast.

We’re doing a lot of nontraditional stuff this year, just because I like cooking and have gotten significantly better at it since the last time we cooked a holiday meal.

Our one staple, other than the turkey, is pumpkin spice pancakes for breakfast.

Hearing you should check out Jewel locations, especially a bit off the beaten path. Might be a BCBS honey hole that many of the truck chasers neglect. Though I am sure this year the neckbeards and their mules will blow this up as well. FIBs...

My bro-in-law’s ex, I could see her doing something like that. His best friend since college, she quit inviting him to birthday gatherings, etc., because “he eats too much.” I’m sure the guy, 6-8 and a former D1 forward, does eat a lot. But still ...

Already looking forward to playing Jim Bob Cooter after the big meal with my daughter and her boyfriend. Have to empty your glass of wine with every mention of Jim Bob Cooter.

Hope everyone's surrounded by their loved ones. And Jim Bob Cooter.

    Happy Thanksgiving to Everyone!

Mom still hosts, this year about 16 mouths to feed. (I carve the turkey though, so that's my contribution.)

    I'm thankful for:

    my health
    two wonderful boys
a wonderful, loving wife who makes everything possible
two loving, kind parents who someone showed me the way to go
a great place to work, challenging and rewarding every day
    and
    my two wonderful dogs.
