I wish RSW's BTHP story had turned out like this.

You know the episode of Curb when Funkhouser is getting jealous hearing about how much fun his divorced friends are having? I haven’t been thinking of that at all. I don’t even know why anyone would bring it up.

Tonight I had to run into 7/11 for something. Inside was a scattershot-acting couple, bouncing around the store looking for food and drink. They looked happily harried and were wearing clothes that appeared to be hastily thrown together--sweats, flannels, the like. They looked like they were seeing the outside for the first time in a couple days and that only hunger and thirst, the types that cannot be satiated between the sheets, drew them out, and that they wanted to get back from whence they came as soon as possible. And I thought there's a non-zero chance this is exmediahack and his new friend, or, more likely, that this exact scene could have played out this week wherever they are located. And that was cool.

I'm thankful we've moved on from the posters who got excited about sniffing the furniture.

The holiday was mostly good for us. We spent it in Steamboat Springs with lots of family, which helped, especially with younger kids.

My sister's family got a permit to cut down a tree in the national forest and we went up on Thanksgiving morning, found a gorgeous 10-foot spruce and hiked it out. $10 for the permit. Same tree would go for $90 at a lot.

Was in Fort Collins on Saturday doing family/estate stuff. Went to the grave site with my parents and brother. Never easy. It never will be.

My sister's family is in Mexico this week on a long-planned vacation so I went and had dinner with my parents tonight as they're here watching their place this week. Tears, remembrances and hugs. We're all trying to be strong for each other, but it's rough.

Hope you all had a great holiday.

    Had a great holiday.

Since my mom lives in Maine and my two dads now live in Florida and I wasn't feeling a trip to either place, I stayed in the area for Thanksgiving. One of my friends from karaoke invited me last minute over to her brother's house where his partner did the (amazing) cooking. I've never been excited about eating green bean casserole (it's been OK the times I've eaten it in the past), but EVERYTHING was on point. It took all the self-control I have to not go back for seconds because I wanted to save room for dessert. If I didn't eat breakfast so late and eat up some snacks beforehand, I totally would have gone back for seconds.

I also scored an invite for Christmas dinner. :)
