I'm almost caught up. I had watched the first two and then missed the rest. I rewatched the first two and am through the sixth one now.

How many episodes is this supposed to go?

Is Helen Hunt the only person to win an Oscar and an Emmy in the same year? I think it will be a major upset if McConaughey doesn't join her this year.

Will this count as a miniseries?

I guess this could be seen as either. Whatever category it's in, it will win.

If it's categorized as a drama, it's going up against Breaking Bad.

There's talk that it could be entered for Emmy consideration as a miniseries. FX has done so with "American Horror Story" -- also an anthology series with self-contained seasons --- so there's precedent.

If anything, it would keep voters from having to choose between McConaughey and Bryan Cranston.

Bryan Cranston would win. The Emmy voters love rewarding strong final seasons.

HBO will likely try to argue TD is a miniseries instead of a series the way they did with that Mildred Pierce thing. I remember Sepinwall getting all bent out of shape about that, which he felt was bullshit.

No one wants to go against Breaking Bad. It probably will be favored to win best drama, best actor in a drama, best supporting actor in a drama and best supporting actress in a drama, plus a host of episode-based awards.

I thought Breaking Bad's final season would have been reflected in the last Emmys. If not, that changes things... I still might vote for McConaughey over Cranston.
