    Hope you get better, Killick.
    Good on you for helping your neighbor as well as your mom. In 2003, I quit my newspaper editor job to move home and help my dad take care of my mom in her final six months. I felt great comfort from God that it was the right thing to do, and it absolutely was. I had some growing up to do, and because of that situation I did. I started freelancing and that led to some gigs I never dreamed of getting, like covering my alma mater's football team for a year and covering the Indy 500.
    As for the money, I would donate some to charity or help the family in some way, i.e. buy her grandkids gifts or something. But whatever you end up doing, it will be the right thing.
