Come on guys, give Michael a break. I'm sure with the 201 twitter follower the site has, and the nice Google and Amazon targeted ads the site has, after you labor over the "40 free hours" in those 60 days, the Ad Sense and Amazon Associates dough will be rolling in, and after splitting it with the other dozen slaves you'll be raking in a mind boggling $.60 cents a month!
Plus, you'll get to cover the big events, or at least watch them at Buffalo Wild Wings, maybe. Where, if you go on a Tuesday you can spend that 60 cents on one wing!

    I'm in!

This guy had to know this would happen to him by posting on this site, but I bet he got some takers on his proposal, albeit ones that don't know what they're getting into (just out of college).

I didn't read much of the content, but the presentation of the site sure reminds me a hell of a lot of Bleacher Report.

I do like this lede, though.

On the story titled "Chicago Bulls: Joakim Noah Quietly Having A Top-Notch Season," the lede is, "Chicago Bulls’ center Joakim Noah is quietly having a top-notch season." Boom.

You are 100% correct in thinking that we're looking for college students or at the very least those without the bitterness that many show towards the direction of the industry.

While I don't ever want to be Bleacher Report, they did just sell for $200 million dollars. Unfortunately, the writers got just about none of that.

Actually, with all the attention you guys are paying me, I might get up to $.65 cents a month. Might get some ranch dipping sauces with that.

Enlighten us please. How much ad revenue are you getting and how much of that would go to this position. Since your "ad revenue sharing program" is the only compensation for this gig, that would be pretty pertinent.

You're right, I'm not interested. I asked a question. If you don't want to answer, fine, but that makes it seem like the price isn't something you are proud of.

With all due respect Mr. Habit, many people on this site are professional journalists, not the wanna-be jock-sniffing fanboi writers found on sites like Bleacher Report. If you want to be taken seriously here, give us some real facts, such as website traffic. To say you're growing "by leaps and bounds" doesn't mean anything. Girls wrestling likes to say it's the fastest growing sport in America, but that's easy to do when it's among the smallest in terms of participation. How about some real facts on payment, rather than a vague reference to ad sharing that doesn't tell us anything. Most, if not all, legitimate media outlets have probationary periods; however, they pay during the probationary period.

This also should be moved to the freelance board, since it doesn't appear to be anything close to a part-time job (in terms of wages), let alone a full-time gig.

  8. Considering Michael is a content thief, it's not a real opportunity.

Seems like anyone who takes this gig should write under the pen name "Kunta Kinte" or "Django".

Do you have a similar site devoted to ice hockey?

  11. Start your own on Blogspot. Take quotes and photos from NHL.com and ESPN.com to rewrite their stories, and add some spots for AdSense banners. You cut out the middleman.

So that's one thing it has in common with your site.
