You can always count on me -- she's been there since 1937, one year before her final and greatest triumph.

    1938 (Boston and Gloucester) -- October 9, (11), 13, (19), 23, 24, 26
Bluenose over Gertrude L. Thebaud 3-2.
Ten years is very old for a Salt Banker; Bluenose was in her eighteenth season. She was hogged (sagging in the bow and stern, unable to support her own weight), and had been permanently weakened during her battle with the hurricane off Falmouth three years earlier. Her skipper and crew were privately very concerned that her poor condition might lead to a humiliating defeat. Nevertheless, her newly added engines were removed and for one last time she defended her crown as Queen of the North Atlantic.
Spectators of the races understood that the age of sail was over and that they were almost certainly watching the last race between the magnificent fishing schooners.
Gertrude L. Thebaud was wrecked near Venezuela in February, 1948.
Bluenose died on a Caribbean reef in January of 1946.

In her 18 seasons, Bluenose competed for and won the International Fishermen's Trophy five times, retiring undefeated. She and her skipper, Captain Angus Walters, were deservedly inducted together into Canada's Sports Hall of Fame in 1955.

She gives me nightmares ... ever since seeing the billboard of her (1,000 times bigger than her) welcoming me to Springhill.

Would it be bigger than the mural of Elliotte by Rogers Centre?

The one that IJAG drooled over for half an hour.
