How many states have you visited?

    I just booked a trip to Alaska, which will be the 30st state to have been graced by my presence.

    The ones I have yet to visit:
    Arizona
    Arkansas
    Idaho
    Indiana
    Iowa
    Kansas
    Louisiana
    Michigan
    Minnesota
    Mississippi
    Montana
    Nebraska
    New Mexico
    North Dakota
    Oklahoma
    Oregon
    South Dakota
    Utah
    Washington
    Wyoming

    Hawaii (been in the Honolulu airport, but I don't count that)
    Washington
    Oregon
    Idaho
    North Dakota
    South Dakota
    Minnesota
    Iowa
    Nebraska
    Maine
    Vermont
    New Hampshire
    Rhode Island

    So I'm up to 36.

    14 plus DC, kind of depending on how you count it. I ate at the State Line Barbecue in El Paso, which straddles the state line with New Mexico. I made sure I crossed the line to use the bathroom. If I can't count that one, it's 13.

    I need to get out more ...

    Maine and Montana are missing for me, and it's not as though I'm going to knock off those two on one trip.

    I've had bylines from 42.

    Working in four different regions definitely helped that one.

    That's kind of a tough standard. I went to St. Louis for a Cardinals game, but stayed in Illinois the night before, then left immediately after and went back across the river. Can I still count Missouri?

    I see your point, but it's tough to count Iowa if I don't think I even got out of the car to take a leak.

    Do airport layovers count?

    Not counting them, I've been in the following:

    New Jersey
    Pennsylvania
    New York
    Maryland
    Virginia
    Connecticut
    Massachusetts
    Vermont
    New Hampshire
    Rhode Island
    Florida
    California
    North Carolina

    Plus:
    Denial and Euphoria.
