Was listening to Glenn Frey's You Belong to the City and one of the comments is,

Let’s put the saxophone back into rock music!

'80s musicians had alotta fucking sax, even Debbie Gibson and it works so well in this song.

What are your favorite saxxy songs of the '80s (but other decades will do)?

Gerry Rafferty's "Baker Street" is awesome.

"Urgent" by Foreigner has a great sax solo.

"Don't Answer Me" by Alan Parsons Project.

Trained saxophonist David Bowie sprinkled it in frequently and perfectly.

Well, if you like sax, then DMB should be your jam thanks to the work of LeRoi Moore (RIP) and now Jeff Coffin.

The late, great Bobby Keys blew great solos on "Brown Sugar" and "Can't You Hear Me Knocking"

Sonny Rollins on "Waiting for a Friend"

Is this the most '80s video ever? - bunch of euros, weird chicks in body paint, sax solo featuring dude in shades and a cool hat.

I'd love to find a podcast that focuses on changes in music. '80s music didn't just happen, some producer said - what we need are more synths - even synth drums. Or how bubblegum made a comeback in the '90s with the Boy Bands and Brittney Spears. Before these songs and acts became huge, some producer had to come up with the sound.

In “St. Elmo’s Fire”, Rob Lowe was the cool guy and played sax. It was definitely an 80s thing.

Most of the songs sound good, but once in a while I’ll hear an 80s tune and find the sax weirdly out of place.
