I don't know if this is true, but I'm planning on going through Thanksgiving and Christmas with a beard.

My parents hated beards, but they are not around to say anything.

I saved pictures of my COVID beard just in case I ever get the temptation again. Good luck.

I've basically had a beard since I was in my mid-20s. Did one month of a gnarly mustache but I couldn't sustain being a mustache guy. Went clean shaven for one month a couple of summers ago and truth be told hated it. Hated shaving every two days. Now, I just keep my neck clean and keep my beard at a reasonably short length.

I went full goatee for a good number of years, then shaved it on a whim when masks were mandated during Covid.

Realized then that the gray in the goatee made me look 20 years older than I am. Doubt I'll ever go back, for that reason and for the insane (to me) itching that hits as it is first coming in.

I could never grow a good beard but would go back and forth with a mustache. I stopped shaving during Covid since I rarely left my house, but my beard was too white, so I cut it to a goatee when I returned to the office. I shaved the goatee and there was too much turkey neck underneath, so I grew it back.

That's when I figured out why so many 50-plus men have a goatee.

I've had a goatee since the '90s (of course I have) but do no-shave November every year as a fundraiser at work. My wife hates the full beard but tolerates for a month for a good cause.
I get a kick out of seeing how gray it gets from year to year.

I had a goatee for a number of years, then finally let it go into a full beard. My kids were little - like still in car seats little - when my wife dropped me off at the barber shop. I got it all shaved off, and I scared the kids when they picked me up. Grew it back quickly and have had it ever since. Older child is now 20.

Only time I (tried) to grow the beard out was in my mid-20s, when my wife let me grow my hair out, eventually down to my shoulders. (Not coincidentally, this was when we moved to Michigan’s U.P.).

The hair grew really thick, but the beard had plenty of bare spots, especially on the cheeks where cool sideburns were supposed to be!

I shaved it all off before our son was born in February 1999 and have had short hair and no facial hair since. The latter would mostly be a gray neck beard anyway …

It's only since I've gotten older that I can grow any facial hair. It would never look good in anything other than a beard, but it is full of white hair on my chin and cheeks. Another problem is the time between a few days stubble and a full beard is horrendous looking.

I like it, but am worried about getting a haircut to match it.

I grew a beard once in college and hated the itching and the fact that there was a gap between my face and pillow....but would grow one again when it is full grey.

I had mutton chops through college and it turned into a beard when the chin hair finally arrived to close the gap. I kept it all the way until I was 52 because I hated shaving. I had some late nights, followed by early mornings and I didn't want to take the time to shave, so a beard was the answer.
When I was 52, I needed surgery and had to shave the beard. My daughter was 12 at the time and she had never seen me without a beard. There was a look of amazement on her face the first time she saw me beardless.
After I recovered, a tried the goatee for a while, but eventually grew it all back and that is how it remains, 20 years later.
I don't remember exactly when it went from brown to gray, but it's all gray now.
