Layoffs at Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

    I just heard that the deputy sports editor at the ADG (who’s been the de facto SE the past 25 years) got laid off today, among others. That was a good dude with tons of institutional memory.

    That was one paper that, people thought, was largely insulated from cutbacks because of its older readership base and ownership’s business acumen. At this stage it’s easily top 40 nationwide.
