I left a Pulitzer paper right after Lee bought out the company. I heard nothing but awful things about Lee. Mary Junck is awful.

This is not good for the BH properties in Virginia. Glad I'm out.

This. Definitely not good news for BH people. Mary Junck is junk.

My only experience with a Lee paper is the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, which still has one of the biggest, strongest sports staffs left in America.

Have seen a little bit of Lee papers around the Midwest (St. Louis, Madison, Quad City Times, Lincoln, Nebraska), and they seem to have fairly full and committed sports staffs, and aren't shy about spending money on beat writers hitting the road.

May just be perception and they are as bad as everyone else, but they seem to be decent from the outside, at least.

Some of their bigger properties, like St. Louis and Lincoln, sports remains a strong point. Wonder how long it will be before there's some cross-pollination between Omaha and Lincoln on Huskers coverage, though?

    The very tallest.

    Guinness Book and all that.

Some of these posts might make me feel better if I still worked in sports!

A friend worked at a midsized Lee paper that I think went to some kind of hub system where the paper was designed either across the building or across the street. But either way, it was considered a disaster on that front. Not more or less bad than most hubs, but somehow more absurd.

That friend, and a few others have since left said company and not been mad to do so.

Its not good for ANY BH properties (which are still mostly managed by the carryovers from Media General), except Omaha (maybe) ...
