A blog is really no different than someone sending an early edition story. Nobody is being affected negatively here. It doesn't hurt television coverage - in fact, it brings attention to college baseball, which often gets overlooked anyway.

Sounds like some official getting carried away with themself.

The NCAA's in-house blog addressed the issue today.

Takes a stance contrary to the official Indianapolis viewpoint.

Thanks for the link. Here's an interesting point from it, something that occurred to me when I saw papers blogging from the women's hoops Final 4:

That's a valid point, and that's why ESPN and the NCAA are really being paranoid and short-sighted about this. But I expect nothing less from The Worldwide Follower at this point.

  4. I'm hearing that the NCAA has informed Louisville that its credential request(s) for the College World Series are in jeopardy.

I hope I'm wrong. Anyone know a final answer?

    The university or the newspaper?

  6. The Louisville Courier-Journal. My bad, don.

Well, this turns it into a bigger story if true, then. This is still Bennie Ivory's paper, right? He won't stand for that.

    That would be unbelievable.

Incredibly stupid on the part of the NCAA, starting a fight they should not win.

But what an interesting story to watch and cover, as a powerful organization tests the limits of its power.

Can I blog at the CWS if I blog about how delicious Dasani water is and how Aquafina sucks ass by comparison? :D

I'm sure the NCAA would drop a scare tactic, but there's no way they won't credential the C-J. None. But I'd love to see the fight.

If you do, I'll make sure someone who's there buys you a beer, on me, at the Upstream.
