I wish he would come closer to us here in Flyoverville.

He was in an episode of Bluebloods and, I thought, surprisingly good. Not sure why I was surprised but I was.

He'd be a strong contender for best dressed male country singer as well.

Didn’t he meet Julia on the set of a Robert Altman film?

Yeah, "The Player". IIRC they dated for like a month then married. The wisdom of that idea was quickly established.

Don’t particularly dig his genre but the man puts on a helluva show. Late wife and I went to six of his shows - she was a big fan. Great performer. Good dude.

He's right up my alley, both in Texas singer-songwriter and Texas Swing big band leader modes, but yes. Unfailingly polite, quiet spoken, but still with a layer of West Texas country boy. As to Julia, there are a couple of verses in "You're not from Texas" that mention her, although much of it is tongue in cheek songwriting.

"See I was born and raised in Texas
And it means so much to me
Though my girl comes from down in Georgia
    We were up in Tennessee

And as we were driving down the highway
She asked me baby what's so great
How come you're always going on
    About your lone star state

I said that's right you're not from Texas
That's right you're not from Texas
That's right you're not from texas
    But Texas wants you anyway
That's right you're not from texas
That's right you're not from texas
That's right you're not from texas
    But texas wants you anyway

Oh the road it looked so lovely
As she stood there on the side
And she grew smaller in my mirror
As I watched her wave goodbye."
