Here's what I woke up to Sunday morning:

Mrs. Chiquet and I were awoken to something we hear occasionally, something hit the wall that runs along I-75 behind our house (semi tires that blow, or someone crashed … it happens quite a bit in our 8 years in the house).
I peek my head outside and WHOA! We have a backyard window!
Luckily the girl is OK who crashed her car. The state trooper said she was going over 100 mph and wasn’t wearing a seatbelt! I called the hospital yesterday and she wasn't even listed as a patient anymore.
Her engine flew through the fence and was on fire when I got outside. A state trooper got it out for us.
Only damage to the house was a broken garage window. Glass only broken on the outside and didn’t land in the garage. There’s also some of the wall on our roof and car parts all along the side yard.

A few photos from my Facebook post and a link to the coverage the local TV station had Sunday night.

Turning that yard back to native grasses, I see.

    Or fescue.

Holy shit. 100 mph, no seatbelt and she’s ok?

I was surprised as well. Still trying to track her down, mostly to make sure she is actually OK.

Dude, I'm glad you and the Mrs. are all OK! How drunk was the woman if she walked away from that?

She was 667 mph more efficient than Chuck Yeager in breaking the sound barrier.

WOW!!! Hard to fathom, what do you have to do to send your engine flying out of the engine bay?? Glad you and the missus are fine.

Was wondering about the chain link fence. Is the land between it and the wall state highway ROW?

Yup. We have to call the DOT to come cut the grass. They do it about twice a year. They’ve been better over the past few years, especially after my wife got a bad case of poison ivy and it was all on their side.
We don’t even have access to that side. There’s a gate down past my property, but it has a lock on it.
