I thought that was a second-hand clothing shop.

Here are my options for the NYC Pass. We have three days for four of us, with kids in high school and middle school. All of us are happy to walk all over. Staying in Times Square.

The * notes what we're already planning to do -- we have three full days -- Friday we'll do downtown/Wall Street/Chinatown, Saturday for Midtown, Sunday for Central Park, Upper West/East.

Any suggestions here from the knowledgeable about NYC Crowd here?

We're a family of four - don't mind walking - don't mind some adventure and the unexpected along the way. Kids don't complain and are happy for the opportunity. In other words, they're not short attention span. That would be me.

We did a Circle Line tour on our first visit, great way to see a lot in a short time. We also did a guided Harlem walking tour last month that was outstanding.

Cran, do you know the Raccoon bar? Somewhere toward lower Manhattan, I think.
Couple hundred years old. Don't get to NYC much, but we once had a memorable night there.

Yeah, the Raccoon Lodge. It shut down about half a year ago. It was a classic dark place with "eclectic" decor, pool tables in the back and very friendly staff. The whole block (including New York Dolls strip club) is getting torn down for a luxury high rise. That's TriBeCa for you. It was always a little out of the way for me, but I ended up there a few times, although not in several years.

Well, no. I believe in actually trying to get to know and possibly meet people on my favorite message boards, instead of just remaining anonymous assholes.

FWIW, it's cool you want to meet up with Moddy and cran. Just a lame joke and didn't mean any disrespect with it.

Speaking for the UWS since that's where I live: Start at Central Park South, walk through the park to the Museum of Nat History. You'll pass the tribute to John Lennon at 72nd street. After the museum (plan to be there for several hours), walk two blocks west to Amsterdam and 83rd and eat at Fred's, a great neighborhood joint. Anything you can do along the Hudson -- bike, walk -- is great. Seeing events or shows at Lincoln Center is well worth it, though I'd be iffy about the tour (from what I've been told, haven't done it in person). I'm guessing the Harry Met Seinfeld is all about the UWS also, which would be fun.

You MUST walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. I've heard only good things about Food on Foot tours. (There is also a great dessert tour that goes through the Village ... I'll try to find it.)

Lots of great suggestions on here. My two cents:

If you want to do a tall building, go Top of the Rock. View is just as good, and less of a crowd than Empire State Building.

I love the New York Historical Society. Always great exhibits. And close to Natural History Museum and the Dakota. Can knock off a few things in a short time.

9/11 Memorial is very well done and free. The museum is well done... But it's a rough visit. Some things are still hard to see.

And if you're staying in Times Sqaure, go to Jimmy's Corner. Great old-time boxing bar. Tremendous old boxing art and newspaper articles hanging on the walls.

And get Moddy and extra beer. Tell him DeskGrunt50 is good for it next time.
