Merle Allin interview

Mark Laita has a series of Youtube interviews titled Soft White Underbelly. I just watched a couple he did with punk rocker Merle Allin and found them quite interesting.

Allin's brother, GG Allin, took punk rock to the nth extreme. I remember when he brought his band, the Toilet Rockers, to a club in our city, where he proceeded to expose himself and defecate on stage. He was, of course, arrested. Within a year or two after that he was dead of an overdose.

Shitting on stage was a regular feature of a GG Allin show, according to his brother. Violence and property damage were other themes. Merle worked as a sideman for GG, and also set up escape strategies from irate concertgoers and club owners. He has some stories to tell.
